Emerald Academy to provide one-to-one technology
All scholars will use laptops during upcoming school year
KNOXVILLE – Emerald Academy, Knoxville’s only public charter school, will provide one-to-one technology next school year.
Every scholar in kindergarten through eighth grade will have a personal laptop to use during school and take home. The devices will be Google Chromebooks.
“Since we opened five years ago, our scholars and faculty have utilized computers daily in the classroom. We’re thrilled to expand our technology offerings for the 2020-2021 school year by providing a Chromebook for every scholar,” said Emerald Academy School Director Lauren Moore.
“The additional laptops are just one more example of our commitment to scholars and preparing them for the college of their choice and community leadership,” she said.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Emerald Academy has provided many scholars with Chromebooks to use for distance learning at home.
Natasha Knight’s two sons attend the school and she said, “I am grateful for the support my children and I have received during distance learning. Thank you, Emerald Academy, for continuing my children’s education outside the physical classroom.”
