Like to fish? Enjoy spending time relaxing outdoors in a beautiful setting? Make plans to attend the First Annual Community Open House at Lone Oaks Farm June 8. The gates at 10,000 Lake Hardeman Road in Middleton, Tenn. will be open to all from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to enjoy a free fishing day at the main lake.

A fun event for the whole family, the First Annual Community Open House at Lone Oaks Farm is an opportunity to spend the day enjoying the 1,200 acre property full of pastures, woodlands and lakes. “Bring your own lawn chairs, canopy tents, fishing poles, bait and a big smile,” says Scott Cagle, director of Lone Oaks Farm. “We really want folks in the surrounding communities to come and enjoy a fun day with us. This is an amazing place,” continues Cagle.

Operated by University of Tennessee Extension, Lone Oaks Farm is a working farm and 4-H youth development and conference center in Middleton, Tennessee. The farm currently hosts 4-H camps, field trips and STEM education programs. Future plans for the development of Lone Oaks Farm include the construction of a 4-H STEM and Farm Center, a 4-H camp facility, a shotgun clay target shooting complex, a hospitality complex and an adult leadership center.

Barbecue sandwiches, chips, drinks and desserts will be available for purchase and games will be set up for kids to enjoy as well. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officers will be on site to answer questions about fish populations, techniques and more. A fishing license will not be required on this day.

University of Tennessee Extension is excited to partner with TWRA, the Grand Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Middleton Fire Department and the Women’s Auxiliary for Middleton Fire Department to make this event possible.
