Freeman Webb donates $40,000 to non-profit organizations

NASHVILLE, TN - Freeman Webb Company has donated $40,000 to three non-profit organizations in honor of the company’s 40th anniversary. In their company-wide “Legendary Leasing” donation drive, the company donated $10 for every new rental application at every Freeman Webb apartment community in order to bolster their support of each community where they have a company presence.

“We are proud to support these worthy causes in partnership with our apartment communities,” commented Freeman Webb Co-Founder and Chairman Bill Freeman. “We have always considered our residents to be kind, thoughtful and caring individuals, and this proves it! We are proud to donate these funds as directed by our apartment communities.”

This unique method to raise funds for this community was a partnership between Freeman Webb as a company, their local employees at each apartment community and prospective renters.

“Our prospective residents appreciate the gesture and liked having a choice of fundraisers,” commented Tanya Hall, the manager of Freeman Webb’s Cross Creek apartment community in Knoxville. “It was a pretty successful fundraiser for our community! It’s a very effective way to raise money and has been a successful donation.”

Rebecca Sexton, a 14-year employee of Freeman Webb who acts as the community manager at The Henley, agreed. “This drive was successful in that we got feedback from applicants. They were appreciative and liked selecting their charity.”

Bryony Stuart, Brendon Park’s assistant community manager, has been with Freeman Webb for over 10 years. “It was a super successful drive,” commented Stuart. “I think it is genius to attach it to what people are going to do anyway, like rent an apartment! We heard many comments about how cool it was of our company.”

Erika Jenkins, Papermill Square’s community manager, was happy to see the positive reaction of their prospective renters. “They appreciated the gesture by the company,” Jenkins said. “It shows a lot of compassion, which is not shown enough these days.”

Each prospective renter was asked to choose which of three charitable organizations they would like to receive the company’s donation. The three selected organizations were St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Humane Society of the United States and local initiatives to end homelessness.

As St. Jude’s mission statement reads, “The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay.”

The Humane Society of the United States works to protect animals and prevent their suffering. “We fight all forms of animal cruelty to achieve the vision behind our name: A humane society,” their mission statement reads. They provide rescue services during weather-related disasters, veterinary services for neglected animals and work to support laws that protect the welfare of all animals.

Freeman Webb also chose to support local initiatives to end homelessness. As the National Alliance to End Homelessness states, “The solution to homelessness is straightforward: housing. By connecting people experiencing homelessness to housing and services, they have a platform from which they can address other areas that may have contributed to their homelessness – such as employment, health, and substance abuse.”

The total amount donated on behalf of the company’s anniversary to these charitable organizations includes the following:

• St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital -- $18,000
• Humane Society of the United States -- $12,000
• Local Initiatives to End Homelessness -- $10,000

“I am very proud of the charitable legacy that our company has established, both to the communities where we have a presence and to our industry,” stated Freeman. “Giving back to our communities has always been an emphasis at Freeman Webb during our first 40 years of conducting business, and that will not change in the next 40 years!”

In addition to the $40,000 raised on behalf of the employees and prospective renters at each apartment community, the company has also donated in excess of $400,000 in 2018 to various non-profit organizations through the principals of the company. Freeman Webb, which owns and operates 77 apartment communities in Tennessee, Alabama and Missouri, has emphasized corporate giving for the entirety of its 40 years in business. Freeman Webb, its founders and the company’s employees have supported these three charities for many years, which collectively provide care for sick children, neglected animals and homeless individuals.
