Volunteer East Tennessee hosts fourth annual Volunteer Expo

KNOXVILLE - On Saturday, October 6, 2018, Volunteer East Tennessee’s annual Volunteer Expo, the area’s largest volunteer fair, will return to West Town Mall from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

More than 20 nonprofit and community organizations will be participating including Girls Inc. of the TN Valley, Ijams Nature Center, Knoxville Museum of Art, Knoxville Track Club, and Random Acts of Flowers. Harmony Family Center, Young-Williams Animal Center, H.A.L.T. (Humans & Animals Learning Together), and Zoo Knoxville will be bringing some animal friends for potential volunteers to meet, as well.

“The Volunteer Expo is an easy way for people interested in getting involved to meet nonprofit staff or volunteers, and learn what volunteering with them is all about,” said Alyson Gallaher Executive Director of Volunteer East Tennessee. “Volunteer East Tennessee is committed to supporting our nonprofit partners and providing a way for anyone to volunteer in support of a cause or issue they are passionate about. Without volunteers, many organizations would not be able to do the important work they do every single day.”

This event is FREE and open to the public. The first 150 attendees to create volunteer accounts on-site or show proof of an existing volunteer account with www.volunteeretn.org, will receive a Volunteer East Tennessee water bottle. Attendees can also participate in a DIY service project, assembling smile kits, which will be distributed to various youth-serving organizations in Knox County.
