Friends of King Family Library sponsor holiday quarter book sale for children
Being a kid around the holidays is not always the easiest task especially when the child wants to shop and buy gifts for his or her family and friends. It can be an expensive and daunting undertaking. So many adults are shopping and most kids just don’t have the cash to support their own holiday shopping and gift giving dreams. In an effort to provide an affordable shopping option for the children at the King Family Library, the Friends of King Family Library (FoKFL) will host a Quarter Book Sale just for children on December 20 from 3:00-5:00 pm.
FoKFL will have a holiday book shop established in the lobby of the King Family Library as well as in the 3rd Floor Book Store on the 3rd floor of the library. FoKFL hosted a Mother’s/Father’s Day Quarter sale earlier this year and the kids loved it. They got to shop and choose books for mom and dad. Each book cost only a quarter! This time, the mini quarter book sale will provide a wider variety of books so that the kids can purchase books for brothers and sisters as well.
In addition to the holiday shopping opportunity, FoKFL will also provide a gift wrapping station so the books can be wrapped for the kids to take home and place under the tree. Children can wrap their own book gifts (free of charge) for their family and other loved ones or they can get assistance from FoKFL gift wrapping volunteers.
Not only will the kids have a gift wrapping station for their purchases during the Holiday Quarter Kids Book Sale, but the Friends will provide a wrapping station for the general public in the café area. The event will take place December 17-21 during library hours of operation as a mini fundraiser. Come and wrap your purchases in secret - away from the curious eyes in your own home. The public is invited to wrap their own gifts using the supplies available for a donation of their choice while supplies last.
If you would like to help with this fun holiday project, the Friends of King Family Library are accepting donations of Christmas gift wrapping paper, tape, gift bags, transparent tape, bows and other wrapping supplies. Even those unused rolls and supplies (in good shape) from previous Christmases will be a great help to ensure that the supplies meet the demand during this hectic season. Please drop off donated wrapping supplies at the King Family Library, 408 High Street, in Sevierville at your earliest convenience.
If you need a bit more privacy to wrap gifts for your loved ones, drop by the King Family Library during the week of December 17-21 and wrap those gifts for a donation on a first come first serve basis while supplies last.
All proceeds from the Holiday Quarter Kids Book Sale and the wrapping station will go to Friends of King Family Library to support programs and services at the King Family Library.
