OAK RIDGE, TN – On September 12, Safety Fest TN officially kicks off with the Community Safety Forum. The forum will be held in the Y-12 New Hope Center’s Wamp Auditorium at 9:00 a.m.
Headliners for the Community Safety Forum include the Commissioner of the TN Department of Labor and Workforce, Burns Phillips; the Administrator of TN Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Steve Hawkins; the Commissioner of the TN Department of Safety and Homeland Security, David Purkey; and the Director of the TN Emergency Management Agency, Patrick Sheehan.
“We wanted to offer our audience a statewide perspective on workplace safety and emergency preparedness, and who best to deliver that message than the Commissioners and their administrators?” said Tom Wantland, a Safety Fest TN organizer.
Immediately following the safety forum, attendees are invited to attend the CNS-sponsored “Coming Together for Safety” community brunch in the foyer of New Hope Center.
“The brunch highlights what Safety Fest TN is all about— community and taking care of each other at work and at home,” said Wantland.
Safety Fest TN offers 90 free safety classes to companies and residents from September 11-15. Many other events are scheduled in conjunction with Safety Fest TN, including the State Fire Chiefs Conference, DOE’s Emergency Management Forum, Safety Expo, and safety demonstrations.
Registration and a complete listing of classes is available at www.safetyfesttn.org.
