The 2017 Ride for the Rescue cyclists’ event to benefit Knox Area Rescue Ministries, sponsored by West Bikes, will be Saturday, August 12, beginning at the West Bikes store location, 111531 Kingston Pike.
Ride for the Rescue promises to provide fun and challenges for both the cycling novice and the experienced cyclist. There are three routes, 20 miles, 50 miles, and 70 miles in length, with varying start times. In addition, there is a 4-10 mile greenway family friendly ride. The 20, 50 and 70 mile routes will kick off at 8:00 a.m., while the family friendly greenway 4-10 mile route will begin at 9:00 a.m. Fully supplied rest stops with volunteers are located on each route to assist with cyclists’ personal needs. Local law enforcement is also anticipating cyclists and will provide safety assistance along each route as needed.
“We are so grateful to have the support of West Bikes and cyclists in our area who are working to not only raise funds to help those in need at KARM, but also to raise awareness of those needs within the community. Ride for the Rescue is a fun-filled sporting event with a powerful purpose,” said Sue Renfro, Director of Marketing and Communications for Knox Area Rescue Ministries.
