KNOXVILLE – Thirty-six Knox County high school students started their year of service on the Youth Health Board with a retreat last week at Ijams Nature Center. A collaborative effort between the Knox County Health Department (KCHD) and Coordinated School Health, the Youth Health Board serves as a forum for youth to affect our community’s well-being through volunteer activities and service-learning projects.
“These young leaders bring a unique perspective as we work to explore and take action on a variety of public health issues,” said KCHD Public Health Educator Kerri Thompson. “We’re looking forward to beginning our work in the community with this exceptional group.”
