SunTrust Foundation donates $15,000 to help East Tennessee fire victims rebuild
ATLANTA — Today, the SunTrust Foundation announced a $15,000 grant to the My People Fund to assist families whose homes are inhabitable or destroyed by the recent wildfires in East Tennessee.
“There are many people who need our assistance rebuilding their homes and lives due to the aftermath of the fires in the Smoky Mountains,” said David Fuller, president of the SunTrust Foundation. “It’s our hope that donations to the My People Fund will help families move forward and restore their financial confidence during this difficult time.”
The My People Fund, inspired by Dolly Parton and administered through The Dollywood Foundation, will provide $1,000 each month to Sevier County families who lost their primary residence (renters and homeowners) as a result of the fires.
“Our thoughts go to the families who’ve lost their homes and businesses that have been impacted by the wildfires,” said Harry Gross, Knoxville City president. “We are here to support each other, our clients and our neighbors as we work to restore our community.”
East Tennessee is home to 29 SunTrust branches and maintains leading deposit market share in the greater Knoxville area. Following the news of the fires, SunTrust teammates rallied together to show their support, including contributing relief items to local organizations established to aid those impacted.
