The Knox Area Rescue Ministries annual “Coats for the Cold” coat drive is still going on at KARM Stores and Prestige Cleaners locations and continues through Saturday, November 12. The community can drop off gently used coats at any of these locations. This year’s drive is a week longer than in past years, giving a greater opportunity to collect more coats for distribution to those in need.
In addition, the distribution process has changed this year, to be able to accommodate more people seeking coats more effectively. All donated coats will be sectioned off in a designated area of all KARM Stores for free distribution to those presenting a “Coat Card” voucher to shop for a free coat. “Coat cards” will be distributed through abrea social services agencies, schools, and churches. Coats for the Cold donated coats will be available at all KARM Stores locations for those who have coat cards from Monday, November 14 through Saturday, December 10. This new process, offering an entire month to shop for a free coat in a location more convenient to someone who needs one, should prove to be easier for those who receive coats than having a single morning to stand in line for a coat, as in years past.
