KNOXVILLE – In late October, agents with WEICHERT, REALTORS® - Advantage Plus rolled up their sleeves, put on their working clothes and gave their all to improve the home of a local veteran on East Oak Hill Avenue. Working with the Knoxville Leadership Foundation in their Operation Backyard program, the volunteers had an opportunity to give back to their community.

Operating Backyard provides assistance to low-income, elderly, and disabled individuals by repairing their homes.

“Operation Backyard is an absolutely wonderful program and we’re honored to have helped them make a difference for one local veteran” said Principal Broker Jeff Grebe. “Working along side others agents in the Knoxville Area Association of REALTORS® was great and we hope everyone will think about giving of their most precious resource, time, to improve the living conditions of someone in need in their community. A special thanks to John and Marilyn for making our day of service that much more fun!”

Operation Backyard is a ministry of the Knoxville Leadership Foundation, a faith based non-profit agency. KLF ministers in Knoxville’s inner-city neighborhoods, and in 1998, KLF started Operation Backyard to carry out its home repair program. Since 1998, Operation Backyard has served over 800 homeowners, utilizing over 9000 volunteers.

The Operation Backyard Minor Home Repair Program provides free home repairs for low-income families and is about loving those families by using service projects as a means of entry into their lives to build a Christ-centered relationship between the volunteer groups and the homeowners.
