Sporting Clays Tournament will benefit program for disabled veterans



KNOXVILLE — A new event to benefit a program for disabled veterans will take place Sunday, August 23. The inaugural Smoky Mountain Sporting Clays Tournament will offer shooters the chance to compete for prizes, hone their skills for dove and waterfowl seasons, and support the Knoxville Program of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing for disabled veterans.

The fundraiser will be at Blackberry Farm's private shooting grounds, Smoky Mountain Sports Club, 4286 Mizer Station Road, Louisville, Tenn. Registration costs $100 per person for each of the two rounds of sporting clays; also available are five stand at $25 per person and mulligans at $5 each or five for $20.

Check-in starts at 8:30 a.m. The first round of sporting clays starts at 10 a.m., a barbecue lunch ($5 per plate) will be served at noon, and five stand will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Trophies will be awarded at 4:30.

Registration deadline is Friday, August 21. Shooters can register as twosomes or in teams of four or five; entry forms are available from John Mechler, johnmechler@gmail.com or by calling (865) 599-0386.
