Tennessee Chapter of Leukemia & Lymphoma Society promotes Lori Friel to campaign manager
NASHVILLE — The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Tennessee has promoted Lori Friel to campaign manager. Friel previously was a campaign specialist.
As campaign manager, Friel is responsible for overseeing the fundraising and logistics of Knoxville’s Light The Night Walk event and the Man & Woman of the Year campaign, while also providing information to new cancer patients about LLS services.
“Lori has grown to be a great leader for our chapter, and she’s made major contributions to the success of our Man & Woman of the Year campaign that has grown significantly in Knoxville since it began in 2012,” said Executive Director Jeff Parsley. “Her personal experience with LLS allows her to relate to our patients in a meaningful way.”
Friel started working part time for LLS in 2009, coordinating the Light The Night Walk. Friel’s connection with the organization is personal, as her husband is a six-year leukemia survivor. In 2011, Friel was hired as a campaign specialist, and in 2012 she initiated the Man & Woman of the Year campaign, a spirited fundraising competition in communities across the United States. Her previous experience includes working 11 years in the corporate communications and marketing department of First Tennessee Bank. Friel attended the University of Tennessee and graduated from Frostburg State University with a bachelor’s degree in speech communications.
