Friends of Literacy hosting 5th annual Bachelor Auction

Friends of Literacy has discovered Knoxville’s most good looking, well-versed, and multi-talented men - single men! They've put their boyish reservations aside for the good of a greater cause: fighting illiteracy in Knox County. Auctioning off Dates with Prince Charming himself to the highest bidder on the floor will help them achieve their goal. This year a physician, an attorney, two firemen, a police officer, a restaurateur, a radio DJ, and two news reporters are among the 23 bachelors that will take the stage. During the event, Friends of Literacy will auction off these bachelors who have proven to be caring, well-rounded, and generous men. Each bachelor is paired with a unique date package which has been donated by area businesses.

The event will take place on the evening of Friday, March 13th at the Crowne Plaza in downtown Knoxville. Tickets are $35 for general admission and $60 for VIP. The VIP reception starts at 6:30 pm and includes hors d’oeuvres, champagne, and a special time to meet the bachelors before the main event. General admission entrance is at 7:30, where bachelors will mingle with guests for 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the auction at 8 pm. Food will be served and there will be a cash bar. Tickets are available by calling 865-549-7007 or online at www.friendsofliteracy.org. Event sponsors are WVLT, 93.1 WNOX, Prestige Tuxedos, Mike Baker Insurance Consulting, Ole Smoky Moonshine, Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel and Crematory, and Accord Federal.

Funds raised at the event enables Friends of Literacy to provide free reading classes to the one in 12 adults unable to read or write above a sixth grade level in Knoxville. Friends of Literacy supports the delivery of free high quality literacy and adult education classes in Knox County for adults who are inadequately educated for the challenges of daily life. Working in partnership with area adult education providers, the goal is to help provide free basic adult education classes so that students become better workers, parents, and citizens.
