The STFK Science Cafe is a monthly discussion of topics in science open to the public. This month's topic is about Ebola, and Dr. Mark Rasnake from the University of Tennessee Medical Center is the guest presenter. Dr. Rasnake is an Infectious Disease Specialist, and he will be answering questions in a Q&A session that will last for about an hour.
The STFK Science Cafe meeting on Ebola will take place on Tuesday, February 10 at Ijams Nature Center located at 2915 Island Home Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37920. The time of the meeting is from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM. Complimentary snacks, sodas, and hot beverages will be provided (while they last). If you plan to attend, please RSVP by replying to this e-mail or by calling Ijams Nature Center at 865-577-4717 extension 110.
Children are welcome to accompany their parents to the STFK Science Cafe meeting. For ages 5-12, a companion program called Kid's Cafe will be meeting in an adjoining room. Children who attend the Kid's Cafe enjoy an age-appropriate science lesson and activities that help make learning science fun! This month, they will watch some videos that teach kids how to prevent the spread of diseases like the common cold. Sheila Spakes is the leader of the Kid's Cafe and is a graduate of the University of Tennessee where she majored in Human Ecology with an emphasis on Early Childhood Administration.
There is no charge for children to attend the Kids Cafe, but at least one of their parents or guardian must be in attendance at the Science Cafe. If your kids will be attending the Kids Cafe this month, please register them by sending e-mail to Sheila at kids@spirit-and-truth.net.
