2015 Arrowmont Annual Art and Wine Auction raises over $160,000

GATLINBURG, TN — Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts annual art and wine auction, Shine, Wine & Dine raised over $160,000 to support arts education.

“We are so pleased about the successful outcome of Shine, Wine & Dine,” chair of the event Margit Worsham said. “This year was our most successful with nearly 200 people in attendance, with the largest number of sponsors ever, and everyone had a great time. We are particularly appreciative of our many sponsors who contributed everything from money to moonshine. And of course, central to the event are the fifty artists who contributed works to the silent and live auction.”

Ken Farmer, appraiser and public television personality was the event auctioneer and Erin Barnett of WVLT-Local 8 Now emceed.

“Shine, Wine & Dine has grown into an important fund and friend raiser for Arrowmont,” Bill May, executive director said. “We use the money for scholarships, programming for schools, and operating expenses. I’m pleased that we can present a high quality event that represents the best of Arrowmont.”

Among those attending: Senator Doug and Kay Overbey, Justice Gary and Sandra Wade, Dawn and Richard Ford, Cynthia Moxley and Alan Carmichael, Marty and Jim Begalla, Pat and Geoff Wolpert, Dino Cartwright, Earl and Margit Worsham, Janet and Tom Harper, Katherine and Mike Criss, Jessi Baker, Mignonne and Logan Coykendall, Jim and Margaret Samples, Carol and Jerry Muszik, Jim Clayton, Jim Ogle and Cheryl Houston, Mike McCroskey, Steve Smith, and Carolyn Will.

Presenting sponsors were Ole Smoky Tennessee Moonshine and Margit and Earl Worsham. Other sponsors included: Gatlinburg Fine Arts Festival, Jim and Marty Begalla, Clayton Foundation, Susie and Tom Glenn, Jim and Natalie Haslam, WVLT-Local 8, The Peddler and Park Grill restaurants, Scripps Networks Interactive, Dr. Steven Gottlieb, SmartBank, Harper Auto Square, DeRoyal Industries, Citizens National Bank, Hickory Construction, Burchfiel-Kile Enterprises, Parkside Cabin Rentals, The Historic Gatlinburg Inn, Barnes Insurance, Dawn and Richard Ford, Smoky Mountain Living, and Sugarland Cellars.

Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts is a national craft education center. The School offers weekend, one- and two-week workshops for the beginner to advanced artist, taught by national and international practicing studio artists and university faculty. Students work and learn in professionally equipped studios on an historic 13-acre residential campus in Gatlinburg, TN. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the workshop immersion by registering for on campus housing and meals offered by Arrowmont.

Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts supports artists and enriches lives by developing aesthetic appreciation and fostering self-expression with hands-on experiences in a variety of media, classes, conferences and seminars. On the leading edge of arts education, Arrowmont utilizes contemporary and fine arts techniques to build upon a foundation of traditional arts and crafts.
