CHEROKEE, NC — Cherokee Historical Association will host the 8th Annual Trail of Tears Memorial Walk on Saturday November 1, 2014.

The walk begins at the Main Office located at 564 Tsali Blvd. in Cherokee, NC (across the street from the Museum of the Cherokee Indian) and continues along the Cherokee River Loop Trail on Acquoni Road, back to Tsali Blvd. onto Drama Road and ending at the Oconaluftee Indian Village.

Coffee and a light snack will be provided starting at 9:30 with an opening program and walk beginning at 10:00. Water will be provided along the walking route.

The Trail of Tears Walk is just one of many ways to remember those who suffered such a dark time in history.
