KARM serving Thanksgiving meal to Knoxville’s needy on Thanksgiving Day

KNOXVILLE — Knox Area Rescue Ministries (KARM) will be serving a Thanksgiving dinner to the homeless and needy on Thanksgiving Day, November 27th. Meals will be served in the KARM chapel and dining hall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. during KARM’s annual Thanksgiving Celebration event.

Rothchild Catering prepares the Thanksgiving meal which will serve more than 600 hungry and homeless people in our community. Anyone in need is invited to the dinner, which includes turkey, ham, dressing, potatoes, vegetables, and a slice of pie. The Knoxville Convention Center has cooked 100 turkeys for the event.

Volunteers, 145 to be exact, will participate in set up, cooking, preparation, serving, hosting, parking and clean up duties.

During the event U.S. Cellular will also be on hand to provide free phone calls to anyone who would like to reach out to family and friends.

KARM kicked off its Thanksgiving week last Sunday, November 23rd with its annual Baskets of Hope event when over 1,500 Thanksgiving food boxes were distributed to those who couldn’t afford to purchase groceries for a Thanksgiving meal for their families.

Knox Area Rescue Ministries, which is home to nearly 400 people each night and provides nearly 1,000 meals daily, has served the area as a Christian ministry since 1960. KARM is devoted to life restoration through rescue and building positive relationships. It provides food for the hungry, shelter for the homeless, and healing for hurting people in our community.
