KARM needs volunteers to pick up a turkey box and fill it to help feed the hungry in the Knoxville community. |
KNOXVILLE — KARM’s annual Baskets of Hope giveaway, which supplies boxes of food and a turkey for a complete Thanksgiving dinner for six, will be Sunday, November 23, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. under the overpass off Williams Street behind KARM at 418 N. Broadway. Nearly 1,600 food boxes must be adopted by November 8 for the event to meet the requests of those in need in the Knoxville community.
Each year KARM asks the community to “adopt” boxes of food, do the grocery shopping with a provided grocery list, fill and decorate the boxes, and return the filled boxes to KARM on the assigned dates. Those interested in adopting boxes may download adoption forms, complete instructions, and shopping lists at www.karm.org/basketsofhope and pick up the boxes at KARM’s Baskets of Hope partner location, Central United Methodist Church at 201 E. Third Avenue off Broadway on Thursday and Friday November 6 and 7 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., and on Saturday, November 8 from 12 noon until 4 p.m. The boxes should then be returned to KARM’s parking lot at 418 N. Broadway by and return the boxes to KARM by November 15. Complete directions are available at www.karm.org/basketsofhope.
