Reduced Adoption Fees for Cats and Kittens Offered through November

What’s the perfect complement to a warm fire, the smell of pumpkin spice and brisk air through the falling leaves of autumn? A soft, purring cat curled in your lap.

That’s why Young-Williams Animal Center is inviting East Tennesseans to “fall in love” with cats this season and to save the life of a homeless feline in need. The shelter’s cat rooms are again at capacity, and Young-Williams is reducing adoption fees for all cats and kittens through the end of November.

Kittens can be adopted for $50, adult cats for $25 and senior cats for $10. Regular adoption fees are $150 for kittens, $75 for adult cats and $50 for senior cats.

“For many families, cats are the perfect pet,” Young-Williams Animal Center CEO Jeff Ashin said. “They are independent and require relatively minimal maintenance, but they are also loving, affectionate members of the family. We invite individuals and families to consider cat adoption this fall season. The upfront investment is small, but the return is priceless: unconditional love and gratitude.”

To date in 2013, Young-Williams Animal Center has taken in 5,210 cats in need of homes.

Every adopted cat or kitten will receive the services covered by the regular adoption fees, which include a veterinary physical exam, spay/neuter surgery, some standard vaccinations, a microchip with registration and more.

“We encourage you to consider adoption, and if you already own a cat that has not been spayed or neutered, please contact us,” Ashin said. “We offer low-cost spay/neuter services, and by altering your pet, you could help prevent the births of thousands of kittens for which there are simply not enough homes.”
