Last chance to get your KAPPI sample on Market Square

KNOXVILLE — The countdown is on. Samples on the Square returns with its tasty treats in just a few days. Created to benefit the Knox Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Initiative (KAPPI), the special event is Thursday, August 15 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Market Square.

“Our partner restaurants have created some exceptional hors d’oeuvres this year,” said KAPPI Coordinator Cynthia Hudson. “We’re really close to meeting our goal, so we’re encouraging people to purchase their tickets today.”

As the name implies, Samples on the Square features tasty specialties from nine eateries, including:
Blue Coast Burrito
Bella Luna
Café 4
Cocoa Moon
Latitude 35
Rita’s
Shonos in City
Steamboat Trio

Attendees will enjoy live music from the bands Patriot Rising and South River Trail on the Market Square stage beginning at 6 p.m. Participants can also sign up for Bliss’ newsletter during the event for a chance to win a $50 gift card and a special auction item from Tomato Head. Samples on the Square tickets are $50 per person and are available online at KAPPI’s website, www.mybodymyfuture.com, or by calling (865) 215-5160.

Since 1991, KAPPI has encouraged community-wide support for teen pregnancy prevention under the auspices of the Knox County Health Department. KAPPI’s mission is to prevent adolescent pregnancy through a comprehensive effort that promotes abstinence, self respect, and responsible decision making about sexuality and other health issues. Currently there are more than 30 organizations represented on KAPPI, including Knox County Schools, Boys and Girls Club of TN Valley, United Health Care, YWCA, YMCA and BlueCare Tennessee. KAPPI is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, donations are tax deductible. Proceeds from Samples on the Square will fund KAPPI’s operating budget for the next 12 months.
