Cosby in the Park Festival features culture and family fun

cosby in the parkCOSBY, TN -- The 13th annual "Cosby in the Park" festival will be held on Saturday, May 19, at the Cosby campground in Great Smoky Mountains National park.

This full day family event celebrates the cultural heritage of the area and features recreational opportunities in the Cosby section of the Park. Families are encouraged to attend, and take some time to learn more about old time toys and traditional mountain crafts. This year children and families are invited to make their own rag doll and button whizzer to take home.

The festival is free and open to the public. Beginning at 10:00 a.m., the Ogle family will be honored on the Amphitheater Stage. The remainder of the day will be filled with activities, including Southern Appalachian music, hikes, and demonstrations on local history, blacksmithing, quilting, corn shuck dolls and crafts, old time toys, natural foods and medicinal plants, and other folk arts.

"Cosby in the Park" is presented by the Cocke County Partnership, Great Smoky Mountains Association, and the Park.
