Artists Needed for Arts in the Airport Exhibition

KNOXVILLE -- The Arts & Culture Alliance of Greater Knoxville and the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority (McGhee Tyson Airport) are seeking artists for the next "Arts in the Airport." This juried exhibition was developed to allow regional artists to compete and display work in the most visited site in the area. The selected art will feature contemporary 2- and 3-dimensional artwork and will be exhibited in the secured area behind McGhee Tyson Airport's security gate checkpoint from October 12, 2012 – April 11, 2013.

In honor of the 75th anniversary of McGhee Tyson Airport, the 2012 exhibitions share the theme "75 Years of Making Memories in Aviation." The Arts & Culture Alliance, with assistance from Dorothy Habel, Director of the School of Art at the University of Tennessee, will jury the exhibition. Final approval is the purview of the Airport Authority. Prizes include $1,000 in cash awards.

The deadline for entries to be received is Sunday, September 16, 2012.

The nonrefundable entry fee is $30 for up to five works (FREE for Arts & Culture Alliance members). The $30 entry fee includes a six-month membership in the Arts & Culture Alliance. Each artist may submit up to five entries which must be original works in the following categories: Painting, Graphic Arts, Photography, and 3-D. This exhibition is open to all artists 18 years and older residing in the 33 counties of East Tennessee.
