Artists needed for Arts in the Airport Exhibition

KNOXVILLE -- Artists will have an opportunity to exhibit their work from May 25 - October 18, 2012 at McGhee Tyson Airport. "Arts in the Airport," a juried exhibition which allows regional artists to compete and display work will feature contemporary 2- and 3-dimensional artwork.

In honor of the 75th anniversary of McGhee Tyson Airport, the spring and fall 2012 exhibition will feature the theme "75 Years of Making Memories in Aviation." Artists are encouraged to broadly interpret the theme in their submissions for the spring exhibition. The fall exhibition will feature artwork that has been created specifically for the theme.

Entry deadline is Friday, April 20, 2012.

There is no entry fee. Each artist may submit up to five entries which must be original works in the following categories: Painting, Graphic Arts, Photography, and 3-D. This exhibition is open to all artists 18 years and older residing in the 33 counties of East Tennessee.

The Arts & Culture Alliance, with assistance from Dorothy Habel of the School of Art at the University of Tennessee, will jury the exhibition. Final approval is the purview of the Airport Authority. Prizes include $1,000 in cash awards.
