Knox Heritage's Art & Architecture Tour on May 18, 2012 will feature Gay Street photography
KNOXVILLE -- Knox Heritage will present the sixth annual Art & Architecture Tour on Friday, May 18. This is a guided walking tour of historic sites along historic Gay Street in downtown Knoxville. The stops on the tour are featured based on winning submissions to Knox Heritage's photography contest.
Knox Heritage events almost always include an opportunity for social gathering and good food and drink. In keeping with that tradition, the Art & Architecture Tour commences at 5:00 p.m. in the upstairs Gallery at the Bijou Theatre, 803 S. Gay Street, for wine and hors d'oeuvres for ticket holders. At 6:30 p.m., the tour group departs on the route, based on the locations of the winning photographs. Serving as special tour guides for the event are Kim Trent, Executive Director of Knox Heritage; and Jack Neely, local historian, journalist, and author.
The photos will be displayed in the Bijou Theatre gallery through June 29.
Tickets are $40.00 each and include the reception at the Bijou Theatre, the guided walking tour, and a packet of postcards featuring the winning images. Space is limited; to purchase tickets, visit www.knoxheritage.org/specialevents or call 865-523-8008.
Submissions from over 20 photographers from across the sixteen-county region resulted in over 120 photographs for the seven-member jury panel to review.
The Art & Architecture Tour is sponsored by Jupiter Entertainment, Bennett Galleries, the Bijou Theatre, and Russell Printing Options.
