City-Wide Women's Retreat to Feature Nationally Known Life Coach Jan Silvious
KNOXVILLE -- Women from across East Tennessee will be converging on Main Street in downtown Knoxville October 22, 2011 for a day of refreshing. National recognized professional life coach Jan Silvious will be the guest speaker at this all day women's retreat hosted by First Baptist Church.
The theme for the event is "Help for Today, Hope for Tomorrow," with Silvious leading participants through a biblically based presentation of encouragement and practical advice.
Silvious, author of 11 books including Fool-Proofing Your Life and her latest, Same Life, New Story, has spoken at conferences across the United States and around the world as part of Women of Faith arena events, Precept Ministries' National Women's Convention, Moody's Women's Conferences, and others. Her overall message is that "changing your perspective changes everything."
Same Life New Story is a ten-week Bible study that offers women a powerful truth: one small change can have profound effects. With humor, vulnerability and transparency, Silvious uses a unique blend of modern-day anecdotes and biblical character stories to bring you out of the land of what is and victoriously into the land of what can be.
This is the second year First Baptist has hosted the women's retreat. The event started last year with a single Sunday School class, but as word spread and more women expressed interest in attending, the class members realized there was pent-up demand for a conference designed specifically for women. As a result, this year's retreat is open to everyone, and more than 100 women from across Knoxville and East Tennessee have already registered.
There is no cost to attend the retreat, but registration is required. The retreat is from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and will take place in Trentham Hall on the ground floor of the education building at First Baptist Church, 510 W Main Street, Knoxville TN 37902. A box lunch will be provided, and free parking is available at the church and in the Bank of America parking garage adjacent to the church. Child care will also be provided at no cost.
Online registration for the event is available at www.thewebstation.com/silvious. The deadline to register is October 20.
Additional information about Jan Silvious is available on her website, www.jansilvious.com. Tina Hutchison will lead the music for the retreat. Information about her ministry is available on her website, www.tinahutchison.com.
