Knoxville's Pamela Schoenewaldt to Discuss Her Immigrant Novel

KNOXVILLE -- Pamela Schoenewaldt will discuss her recently released novel, When We Were Strangers, at the Knox County Public Library Sequoyah Branch on May 9, 2011 at 6:30 p.m.

In this captivating novel, Schoenewaldt weaves the tumultuous journey of Irma Vitale, a young Italian seamstress, as she abandons her isolated mountain village in Italy for 1880s America.

Pamela lived in a small town outside Naples, Italy for ten years but is now a Knoxville resident. Her short stories have appeared in literary magazines in England, France, Italy and the United States. Her play, Espresso con Mia Madre (Espresso with My Mother) was performed at Teatro Cilea in Naples. She has taught writing for the University of Maryland, European Division and the University of Tennessee.

"We are so pleased to be able to offer these programs," noted Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett, "Bringing talented authors to our library patrons is a wonderful way of promoting reading in our community."
