Have a Holly Jolly Christmas at Fantasy of Trees

By Knoxville Daily Sun Staff

Do you need a smile? Head on over to Knoxville's Fantasy of Trees at the Knoxville Convention Center. It only lasts five days (November 24 - 28, 2010), and it's almost here.

fantasy of treesFor most of us Christmas is about children and family and it's not until we see the smiling faces on the kids that we leave all the stress and worry behind and begin to enjoy the season. Somehow it makes it all worthwhile.

This year Fantasy of Trees will showcase a theme of "A Holly Jolly Christmas," highlighted with whimsical decorations and wintry designs that celebrate and showcase the fun and festive holiday season with reindeer at play, this year's "hot holiday colors" of lime green and bright reds, and twinkling snowflakes, glitter and lights.

Although this fun event is centered and focused on children, you don't have to have your own kids or even a date with you. You can come by yourself and have a wonderful time. This is one breathtaking event, and it's all in the name of a worthwhile cause. All proceeds go to East Tennessee's Children Hospital. They'll be proud to have you while you will be proud to be a part of it.

Take a walk through an amazing wonderland of over 300 beautifully decorated trees. Get brand new ideas for your own Christmas themes. You'll want to take your time here; the creativity and the magic is a little overwhelming, but you'll get used to it.

Celebrating and announcing their 26th year, Fantasy Of Trees doesn't stop with Christmas trees. In fact, it's just the beginning. It's a festival with children's rides, face painting, crafts, decorating trees, writing letters to Santa, putt-putt or miniature golf, train rides, reindeer coloring, free photos, live Santas, and a whole lot more. Children can also enjoy free rides on a beautiful 30-horse carousel.

There are also special events such as raffles, pirate reviews, special events for toddlers, senior strolls, kiddie parties, a songfest, hand bell concerts, and souvenir shops.

What more could anyone ask for? If this doesn't get you into the spirit of Christmas, nothing will.

If this year is anything like last year there will be one drawback – by the time I left, my face was hurting from smiling so much.
