CHEROKEE, NC - Melissa Etheridge will perform at Harrah’s Casino in Cherokee on September 4. A multi-platinum recording artist, Etheridge has won two Grammy Awards and an Academy Award. In 2011, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and earlier this year she was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She has sold more than 13 million records in the United States and was ranked No. 49 on VH1’s list of the 100 Greatest Women in Rock and Roll in 1999.

Etheridge is currently touring to promote her seventeenth album, “Rise.” The album has received positive reviews for its raw vulnerability, rich blend of heartland rock and Americana, and emotional resilience. One particular song on the album, “Call You,” was written by Etheridge as a means to process her grief following the death of her son, Beckett.

Etheridge scored top ten hits with memorable songs such as “Come to My Window”, “I’m the Only One”, “Your Little Secret” and numerous others.

Etheridge takes the stage at 9 p.m., and tickets are on sale on Ticketmaster. $2 from each ticket sold will be donated to Etheridge House, a not-for-profit charity founded by Etheridge to battle the opioid crisis.

Harrah’s Cherokee will feature other big-name acts in the coming weeks, including Travis Tritt, Trace Adkins, Collective Soul, comedian Mike Epps, and the Stray Cats.

Harrah’s in Murphy, North Carolina, will present Marty Stuart and his Superlatives on Oct. 24.
