Twice-inducted Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Graham Nash will
perform at the Bijou Theater

Grammy Award-winning artist Graham Nash will perform at the Bijou Theater, located at 803 S. Gay Street in Knoxville, on July 29 at 7:30 p.m.

Nash won a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1969 as part of the band Crosby, Stills and Nash. He has twice been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame—as a member of The Hollies and as a member of Crosby, Stills and Nash. In a career that has spanned more than 50 years, Nash has sold an estimated seventy million records worldwide.

In 2010, Queen Elizabeth appointed him to the Order of the British Empire, an order of chivalry recognizing his contributions to music and the arts.

Nash is known for his tenor voice and songwriting skills. Among his more familiar songs are “Our House,” “Teach Your Children,” “We Can Change the World,” and many others.

Nash started his career as a member of The Hollies. After departing The Hollies, he went solo before eventually joining fellow musicians David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Neil Young. Eventually, Young left the band, and the trio continued as Crosby, Stills and Nash.

In 1977, while a member of Crosby, Stills and Nash, Nash was preparing to leave the recording studio where the trio had been laying tracks for an upcoming album when he was challenged to write a song before leaving. Bandmate David Crosby bet Nash $500 that he could not write a song before leaving the studio. Nash accepted the challenge and famously sat down to write “Just a Song Before I Go.” He later said of the moment, “I love free money.”

The song became part of their album, and Nash collected his bet from Crosby. In the end, Crosby did not mind the loss, as the song charted at number 7 on the Billboard charts. This innocent bet resulted in a top-ten hit for the trio.
