KNOXVILLE - Downtown Knoxville is turning up the charm this month with a citywide celebration of love. The popular holiday lights of Peppermint Grove on Market Square have been transformed into a whimsical Sweetheart Walk, creating the perfect backdrop for Valentine’s photos and date-night strolls.

“Everyone loves the lights and festive atmosphere downtown during the holidays, especially in Market Square,” said Michele Hummel, executive director of the Downtown Knoxville Alliance. “We wanted to keep that joyful spirit alive and give our community a reason to continue celebrating this month. The month of love is all about creating fun, memorable experiences that bring people together in the heart of our city."

Adding to the charm, downtown visitors can write a love letter to the city and drop it in the “Love Letters to Knoxville” mailbox designed by local artist Paris Woodhull. The mailbox is located near the Sweetheart Walk in Market Square, and Downtown Knoxville Alliance wants locals and visitors to share the love. You may download a free love letter template at downtownknoxville.org/muchlove.

Sweet treats & chocolate specials

Businesses throughout downtown will feature chocolate-themed specials and Valentine’s treats through Feb. 16. From decadent desserts to romantic cocktails, downtown is the destination for indulgence.

Share the love on social

Snap a photo in front of the Knoxville Entrepreneur Center’s festive window on Market Square and post using hashtag #MuchLoveKnox. Each post is an entry to win gift cards to downtown shops and restaurants. Plus, letters dropped in the mailbox also will be entered for random prize drawings.

Celebrate love, Knoxville style. Whether you’re planning a romantic evening, a Galentine’s outing or simply want to spread joy, Downtown Knoxville is the place to be this February. Plan your visit and see the full lineup at downtownknoxville.org/muchlove The Sweetheart Walk lights will remain on Market Square through Feb. 28.

Ensuring a vibrant, flourishing downtown is the primary mission of the Downtown Knoxville Alliance (DKA). Formed in 1993 as a Central Business Improvement District (CBID), the district encompasses a 0.67-square-mile area and is supported by a special assessment to property owners that is used to make improvements, enhance services and promote downtown. The DKA continually focuses on attracting and retaining a thriving community of residents, businesses and visitors in Downtown Knoxville. For more information, visit downtownknoxville.org.
