KNOXVILLE - Gramphix, a four-member band from Knoxville, explores multiple genres with influences from pop punk, soul, R&B, hair metal, and prog metal. The band covers songs spanning the 80s, 90s, 00s, and contemporary hits with a modern rock twist. Original music can be streamed on any major streaming platform. Unreleased songs can be viewed on their gallery website page as well as their YouTube channel.
The band started without any intention of performing live shows or writing music. Most of the members are hardcore gamers who are mostly engaged in friendly banter in their Discord channel. One of the games that they played together was Overwatch.
One day while playing, Josh mentioned to Vinny that he had bought a new guitar and was going to start learning how to play. At that time, Josh didn’t know how talented Vinny was at almost every instrument. A weekly practice session to assist Josh in learning guitar while Vinny played drums sparked a fire that would eventually bring John into the mix.
After about 4-5 months of practicing and having weekly jam sessions, Josh invited Shadon to sing some songs that they were working on. Once Shadon joined the mix, Gramphix was formed, and the band has been actively writing and performing music since 2020.
The band was named Gramphix as a playful twist on words related to graphics. Earlier, it was mentioned that they are hardcore gamers. When they aren’t performing shows, you can catch them immersed in various types of video games.
