Ober Mountain hosts ski, snowboard & speed skating athletes
in annual Winter Games
GATLINBURG, TN -- Gatlinburg is once again hosting the Special Olympics Tennessee Winter Games. The Winter Games take place January 30 & 31 at multiple venues including Ober Mountain.
Special Olympics Tennessee athletes will compete in alpine skiing, snowboarding, speed skating and 3v3 basketball in divisions based on age and ability.
“Our athletes are excited to be back at Ober Mountain for the first time in three years,” said Special Olympics Tennessee President and CEO Adam Germek. “At their core, our athletes are competitors that strive to do their best while cheering on their peers. It’s always exciting to see the competitions take place at Ober Mountain, so I encourage everyone to come support our athletes.”
The traditional lighting of the Special Olympics Torch will take place on Monday, January 30, 9:00 a.m. at Ober Mountain with competitions to follow.
The Winter Games competition is orchestrated by Ober Mountain Ski & Snowboard School. The Special Olympics Tennessee Winter Games are open to the public.
