Dogwood Arts showcases talented artists of our region

Organization’s first in-person exhibition since pandemic began
debuts June 4th at the Emporium Center


KNOXVILLE — Dogwood Arts is thrilled to announce the return of their Regional Art Exhibition, which will be on display at the Emporium Center in Downtown Knoxville June 4-25, 2021. This will be the first in-person art exhibition that the organization has hosted since March 2020. The Regional Art Exhibition showcases fine art of all styles and genres from the leading progressive and emerging artists within a seven state radius. Althea Murphy-Price, Associate Professor of Printmaking at the University of Tennessee School of Art, will jury the exhibition and award monies totaling $2,000 at the opening reception on Friday, June 4th from 5-8PM. ​

For the 2021 exhibition, artworks must have been completed in the last two years (by artists 18 years of age and older). The application deadline is Sunday, May 9th at 11:59PM. Artists can submit their work here.

About Althea Murphy-Price
Althea Murphy-Price began her studies in Fine Art at Spelman College before receiving her Master of Arts in Printmaking and Painting from Purdue University and later studying at the Tyler School of Art, Temple University where she earned her Master of Fine Arts. Her artwork has been shown widely throughout the country as well as international cities in Spain, China, Japan, Italy and Sweden. Her writings and work have been featured in such publications as Art Papers Magazine, CAA Reviews, Contemporary Impressions Journal, Art in Print, Printmaking: A Complete Guide to Materials and Process, and Printmakers Today.
