The New Respects, David Francisco, and Josh Lovelace (of NEEDTOBREATHE) have been added to the lineup for the inaugural Southern Skies Music Festival, curated by hometown favorites The Dirty Guv’nahs. The one-day event takes place in World’s Fair Park on May 16, 2020 with performances from Ben Rector, The Dirty Guv’nahs, Elenowen, Sawyer, Electric Darling, and Carly Bannister. After the event, the party will move to the Old City for an After Party featuring a Tribute to the Lady Legends of Country Music at Barley’s Taproom and more.

Featured in Rolling Stone as one of “10 New Artists You Need to Know,” The New Respects fall into a genre all their own; meshing pop, soul, and rock & roll with overlays of acoustic tones. Singer/songwriter, music producer, and author David Francisco made his first national appearance on the 2018 American Idol season. Since that time, he has appeared on the ELLEN show, been written about in USA Today, Huffington Post, CBS, and many others. Josh Lovelace, member of the Grammy-nominated rock band NEEDTOBREATHE, will be performing songs from his second family album Growing Up.

“Growing Up is about reflection and honest conversation. It’s a look at the human experience and our interaction with it, inspired by and created for the whole person, whether you are 5 or 85,” says Lovelace.

Beyond the music, attendees will enjoy food trucks, a Maker Market, specialty cocktails/beer/wine, and more. Festival passes are on sale now at southernskiesmusicfestival.com. Tier 2 prices are $45 while supplies last, or go VIP for $150 (with access to premium viewing area, hangout space with private bars and restrooms, festival merchandise, and more).

Southern Skies is produced by Dogwood Arts and is the newest addition to their music programming, which includes Rhythm N’ Blooms Music Festival, Open Mic Nights in the Dogwood Gallery, and musical entertainment at the Dogwood Arts Festival. Dogwood Arts is working with Born & Raised Productions, the Knoxville-based music production company behind Sunset on Central, the Outpost, and Silent Disco Knox on this year’s festival.
