"University of Tennessee sculpture student Kristina Key’s “Circle Types” has been named Juror’s Choice at this year’s The Art of Recycling exhibition. The exhibition of sculptures inspired by and incorporating scrap metal is free and open to the public April 3-21 at the Knoxville Convention Center.

Sculptures created by eight University of Tennessee art students and incorporating scrap metal will be on display April 3-21 at the Knoxville Convention Center on its Clinch Concourse.

“The Art of Recycling” sculpture exhibition celebrates April’s National Recycling Month and features works created by students in the University of Tennessee Sculpture Program. In January, a local steel mill opened its scrapyard to the students, along with John Powers, UT associate professor of sculpture and time-based art. The students selected 3,330 pounds of discarded metal and steel, provided free of charge by the company, and gained inspiration for new works of art.

This marks the fifth year the process has culminated in a public art exhibition. Participating UT students include Dylan Bagnasco, Troy Houk, Kristina Key, Nyasha Madamombe, Jake Miller, Dylan Tan and Ceara Wallus.
