KNOXVILLE -- East Tennesseans will have an opportunity to see the classic Christmas movie "It's a Wonderful Life" at the Tennessee Theatre free.

Home Federal Bank is sponsoring two free showings of the movie on the big screen at the historic Tennessee Theatre on December 4.

"We're pleased to again offer an opportunity for the community to step outside the hustle and bustle of the season and enjoy the grandeur of the Tennessee Theatre," said Home Federal Bank President Dale Keasling. "Last year's inaugural event was a huge success, and we expect a great turnout again this year as families make this a tradition of the season."

The film will be shown at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., and doors will open one hour prior to each performance. There is no cost, and no ticket is required. Seating is limited to the theatre's capacity.

Released in 1947 and starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed, "It's a Wonderful Life" is a bittersweet comedy/drama about George Bailey, a compassionate but debt-ridden manager of a bank in typical small-town America, and the angel that helps him realize his importance in the world. The film was nominated for five Academy Awards and ranks No. 20 on the American Film Institute's "100 Greatest Movies of All Time" list.
