All of Knoxville's friendly and well behaved dogs are invited to Knox County Library's "Movies on the Square" which begins Friday night, September 8th on Market Square in downtown Knoxville.

This free event is open to everyone with pre-show activities starting at 6:30 p.m. This week's movie is Hook (PG) which stars Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman.

Pre-show activities, sponsored by PetSafe, include a variety of four-legged activities:

• K9 Cancer Walk Registration
• Young Williams Animal Center
• Doggone good cupcakes by Magpies

The first 100 dogs to arrive will receive a PetSafe goody bag.

Some contests will liven up this movie-going event:

• 2011 Book and Dog Lovers Song Contest - Write and perform an original song on video that features a love of both books and dogs. You can submit your video at www.knoxlib.org starting September 9th. The winner will receive a prize pack from PetSafe. The top three finalists will be shown at the final Movies on Market Square.

• VIP Movie Prize Pack - A winner will be chosen each week to win a VIP Package ever which includes a $50 gift card to a restaurant with a pet-friendly patio, VIP seating for a family of 4 and their dogs, and VIP parking. For details, visit www.facebook.com.

Movie goers should bring lawn chairs or blankets for a night under the stars in front of the silver screen.

Movies on Market Square is made possible through the generous support of PetSafe, The Tomato Head, Downtown Knoxville, KUB, Metro Pulse, WBIR, B97.5 and Lunar Cinemas.
