NASHVILLE- Pathway Lending announces that Robert (Bob) Porter has joined the organization as its chief lending officer, a newly established role designed to strengthen the Community Development Financial Institution’s (CDFI) lending strategy and expand its impact across Tennessee. Porter joins the executive team with more than 20 years of experience in financial services, lending operations, and community-focused economic development.
As chief lending officer, Porter leads Pathway Lending’s loan programs, products, and deployment strategy, helping scale both capital access and business education. He will focus on expanding lending to small businesses, affordable housing initiatives, and sustainability projects. In 2025, Pathway Lending deployed more than $54 million across the Southeast and is working to expand that impact this year.
“Bob brings a strong background of building high-performing lending programs and expanding access to capital in communities,” said Clint Gwin, chief executive officer of Pathway Lending. “His leadership strengthens our ability to grow our impact and deliver flexible, responsible lending solutions to the businesses and communities we serve.”
Porter most recently served as chief lending officer at Pacific Community Ventures (PCV), where he led the CDFI’s loan fund strategy and operations for more than a decade. During his tenure, he improved lending efficiencies, including implementing same-day loan approvals, developed new loan products, and expanded lending into new geographies to reach more small businesses driving job creation in low-income communities.
Prior to PCV, Porter spent over a decade with Regions Bank, where he held multiple leadership roles, including assistant vice president and business banker. Additionally, Porter has been a longtime volunteer with United Way.
“I am excited to be at Pathway Lending and part of an organization deeply committed to creating economic opportunity,” said Porter. “Pathway’s mission aligns closely with my passion for helping businesses grow and communities thrive. I’m looking forward to expanding our reach and impact in a place I now call home.”
Porter holds a Master of Business Administration from Southern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Economics from Southeast Missouri State University.
