Melanin and Money launches We Own Our Legacy Impact Fund

We Own Our Legacy Impact Fund is being launched in partnership with The Creative’s CornerTM and The Funderista

KNOXVILLE — Melanin and Money has launched an impact fund with The Creative’s CornerTM and The Funderista to provide essential financial resources, business coaching, and tech support to Black and Brown women founders.

2020 bears witness to the greatest closure of Black and Brown businesses this generation has ever experienced. However, throughout history BIWOC have experienced many assaults to their self determination as entrepreneurs, and still Black and Brown ingenuity has prospered.

According to the fund’s campaign site, “The We Own Our Legacy Impact Fund is a coalition of women rising together to preserve the self determination of BIWOC entrepreneurs.”

The We Own Our Legacy Impact Fund is led by Charlene Izere, founder of Melanin and Money, Simbi Ntahobari, Equity Consultant; VP Wright, founder of The Creative’s CornerTM, and Eva Cantu, founder of The Funderista.

Izere says, “We are creating a movement where we will leverage a sisterhood of pioneering women, a network of resources, Black resilience, indigineous innovation, community capital, LatinX strength; to build a future where WE are our greatest asset. And WE are the promissory note of our own prosperity.”

The We Own Our Legacy crowdfunding campaign is now officially live on iFUndWomen. Contributions will go towards grant recipients, tech support, website maintenance, and administrative expenses.
