Volleyball advances to GSAC finals with sweep of Huntingdon

MARYVILLE -- Behind the effort of Great South Athletic Conference Player of the Year Kristin Findley, the Maryville College Volleyball team advanced to the 2011 GSAC title match on with a 3-0 win over Huntingdon College in Demorest, Georgia on Friday evening. The Scots outscored the Hawks 25-12, 25-15, and 25-12 to move to a 25-7 record on the season.

Findley, a Maryville native, led all attackers at the net with a game-high 14 kills. Kristin attacked at a .500 pace connecting on 14 of 26 kill attempts. She added a pair of service aces and nine digs to her line score. Senior Kayla Anderson tallied eight kills. Both Anderson and Findley were Lauren Bonee and Teri Lind's favorite targets as the tandem setters accumulated 36 combined assists. Lind added four services aces. Defensively, All-Conference libero Katherine Nadler set the return pace with a match-high 17 digs.

Maryville will face the winner of the LaGrange/Piedmont semi-final on Saturday. The championship match will be played at 1:00 pm at Cave Arena within the Johnny Mize Athletic Center located on the campus of Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia.
