The Maryville College volleyball program has hired a pair of new assistant coaches to help maintain the success and prestigious history the Scots have attained over the past 25 seasons.

Jesse Zabal, a 2008 Maryville College graduate, has been hired to become the full-time assistant coach under head coach and Maryville College athletic director Kandis Schram. Zabal finished her career in the orange and garnet with 326 sets played, and a career 424 kills. Zabal is excited to return to her prestigious alma mater. "I want to instill the Maryville College tradition into our players and now that I am representing the program I have a great opportunity to do that on a daily basis." Zabal served as part time teacher and coach after graduation, and is ecstatic at the opportunity to further her coaching and teaching career under the direction of Coach Schram. "I am very excited to work with Coach Schram, she is an amazing person and I have a lot to gain from her on and off the court." Zabal served as a part time coach in 2009, developing the junior varsity volleyball program at MC.

Kellie Walker has been hired on to Kandis Schram's staff as the part time assistant to help run MC's junior varsity program. During the application process, Kellie set herself apart with her enthusiasm to work at Maryville College and work with the college student athletes. Walker is excited at the opportunity to work with Coach Kandis Schram and Jesse Zabal. "I am extremely happy to be working with Jesse and Coach Schram. They are great people. I believe we all have the same personality when it comes to working hard and teaching life lessons through volleyball, so I believe we will be successful and have a great time doing it." Walker currently teaches at Bearden Middle School.

The Scots volleyball program will open their 2011 campaign on September 2nd in a Wittenberg, Ohio tournament. MC's first home match on Randy Lambert Court in the Cooper Athletic Center will be September 14th at 8:00 p.m. against Covenant College.
