  Maryville College Volleyball Sweeps GSAC Challenges in Alabama

MARYVILLE, TN -- The Maryville College Volleyball team advanced to 9-5 on the season and opened the 2011 Great South schedule with a pair of league victories in Montgomery, Alabama on Saturday. MC defeated Agnes Scott College 3-0 by the scores of 25-12, 25-19, and 25-18 before sweeping weekend host Huntingdon College 3-0 by the scores of 25-17, 25-19, and 25-12.

In the first challenge, Maryville's Kristin Findley deposited a game-high 10 kills while Casey Merrill added seven. Teri Lind tallied 28 assists while Jillian Galewski led the defense with 24 digs. MC's team recorded eight service aces on the Scotties.

Findley excelled in the nightcap with her ninth double-double performance of the season. The senior from Maryville connected for 14 kills against the Hawks of Huntingdon while leading the team along with Katherine Nadler with 11 digs. Kara Strickland added nine kills and eight digs while Lind exploded for 31 assists.

MC (9-5, 2-0 GSAC) will return home for action on Tuesday evening. The Scots will host Berry College for a non-conference match slated for 6:00 pm in MC's Cooper Athletic Center.
