TELLICO VILLAGE, TN -- The Tennessee Golf Association has chosen Tellico Village to host two of its championship events in 2022. The Village will host the 2022 Tennessee Senior and Super Senior Four-Ball Championships at Toqua Golf Club the week of May 9 – 13. A full field of 108 of the best senior golfers in the country are registered with a waiting list already.

The format will start with stroke play qualifying on Tuesday and Wednesday followed by a cut to the low 8 Senior teams and low 4 Super Senior teams advancing to the elimination match play brackets. The field includes two hall-of-famers and several state champions including Tim Jackson who has won 26 state championships and played in two Masters tournaments. Knoxville’s own Steve and Jeff Golliher are also expected to play.

“We are excited about the outstanding courses that have graciously agreed to host tournaments in 2022. We will be hosting events all the way from the Tri-Cities to Memphis, and we hope to see many new and familiar faces alike playing in state championships” said Allison Brown, who was named the TGA’s new executive director last year.

Tellico was also selected to host the 2022 Tennessee Women’s Senior and Women’s Mid-Am Championships at The Links at Kahite on September 27 and 28. This event will attract some of the top female amateur golfers in the state, including former UT golfers Blakesly Brock, who won the US Women’s Amateur Championship in 2021, and Teleri Hughes.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to be chosen to host two major state championships in the same calendar year” said Chris Sykes, Director of Golf Operations at Tellico Village.
