Maryville College's Stanley earns NABC All-Region honor

MARYVILLE -- Milton Stanley, a 6'3" scoring guard for the Maryville College Scots, was honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches by being named to the 2012 NABC All-South Region squad. The senior was named as a first team selection following a breakout final campaign.

Stanley was a scoring machine over his final two seasons with the Scots. As a junior he earned All-Great South honors after averaging 12.2 points per game. This season "Milt" paced the conference with his 459 points earning All-GSAC and Great South Player of the Year honors. He finished the season depositing 17 points a game. In over 90 career games, the son of Robert and Carolyn Hernandez, helped MC win 71% of all their games and 85% of all GSAC tip-offs. This Oviedo, Florida native is an American Sign Language and Deaf Studies Major. He shot 51% from the field for his career and eclipsed the 800 point plateau while also bringing down over 300 rebounds. Milton's consistency allowed him to average 8.8 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game over his career. His team first attitude was also seen in his 150 career assists.

Stanley's development over his tenure in the orange and garnet was a key factor in Maryville winning three regular season Great South titles, a trio GSAC Tournament crowns, and the 16th, 17th, and 18th NCAA post-season appearances in the program's stellar and storied history.

Milton is the 17th Scot under Head Coach Randy Lambert's direction to earn NABC All-Region honors since 1993.
