Good Morning East Tennessee!

It's Monday morning.

The last time Knoxville got a lot of snow the neighborhood kids were out of school, and they all wound up in my yard. As I was walking my dog, I stopped to see what the commotion was about. I soon found out they were making snow-people.

To make a long story short, I wound up being the judge of the "first neighborhood snowman making contest" which was a huge success.

Since then the seed has been planted and the idea has been growing. The Knoxville Daily Sun wants to hold an official "Snowman Making Competition."

The idea is to keep the kids busy with a fun, free, safe activity that may well expose some true artistic talent.

I certainly don't expect people to drive to my house in the middle of a storm. You and/or your children could make the snowman in your yard. You take a picture and send it to us along with the age of your child and your contact information. We'll keep you posted on the results.

The categories are: ages 10 & under, ages 11-13 and ages 14-17.

Each group will have a 1st, 2nd & 3rd place prize.

We are still working on the fine print, and our eyes are on the weather. We'll be releasing a new article with all the details including prizes, day of the event, and rules as soon as mother nature lets us know (hopefully, 3-4 days in advance).

Have a great day!
