Do you like winter?

Some people don't seem to mind it at all. They'll go about their business like they always do, and it simply doesn't seem to affect them.

I hibernate. Occasionally someone will ask me to take a trip up to the mountains or the neighborhood kids will ask me to help them build snow people. I'll look at them like they're crazy. "What? Are you kidding me? It's 20 below zero! No way! I'll help you build a snowman in the summer!"

People marvel at the whiteness, but I don't find it all that pretty. "Yes, it's white. Can we go home now? My nose is dripping, my skin is flaking and I'm shivering like I'm having a seizure, but you're right - it's defiantly white."

Maybe I'm jealous. I'd love to go snowmobiling, ziplining, or skiing. Those things are right up my alley, but they're not lifelong goals or things I "have to" do.

I know. I need to lighten up and learn to love my KUB bill. I try to feel sorry for all those Florida people who just don't have the stories of sitting in traffic for hours, sliding around dangerous roads like a ballerina, having colds, the Flu, and enjoying the whiteness of the season. I'm sure they wish they could have chapped lips just once.

I'm going to head down to Florida one day and plant some leafless, naked, trees so they can all see what they're missing.

I don't know. I tend to think the people who like winter are faking it. They just want to be different or something. If you ask me: they can have it. If they like it so much they can go out and do my grocery shopping. Tell them to pick me up some firewood too and just drop it off in the driveway. I'll see them in the Spring.
