Rising with the Daily Sun
Archives

Good Morning East Tennessee!

Someone asked me the other day what I did at the Knoxville Daily Sun. While I could have said, "I take pictures and write articles," it wouldn't be enough. It would just put me in a long list of journalists and photographers. There's nothing wrong with that, but I don't want to be in a list.

I use a pen and a camera to help people find their due recognition, to help the public understand the often misunderstood, to show folks a different side, a different view and a different light.

I can't take everyone with me physically so I take them another way, and I try to show them what they're missing. Too often the unheard have so much to say and offer. Some paint pictures, create sculptures, music, motorcycles or any other form of art. Others sadly stay silent.

I pride myself on finding that silent person in a world of noise and bridging the gap between them and the world that needs them. On the other hand it doesn't have to be a human: it could be an animal or a building or anything else. Maybe what they thought all these years is wrong. Maybe they were never exposed to the truth. Maybe this triangle that the Knoxville Daily Sun created can make a difference.

A friend of mine quoted Jim Rohn on her Facebook page. "One of the greatest gifts you can give to anyone is the gift of attention."

One of her responders wrote: "Mr Rohn is right."

We all want to be heard, recognized and appreciated.

I truly believe that every human being has something to say or share that's worth everyone's attention and has the potential to change the world.

We are too fast to judge and dispose of people and, in the process, we are missing the truth.

Have a great day!
