Good Morning East Tennessee!

It's Sunday, February 20, 2011. This month is more than two-thirds over, and Spring is right around the corner.

Guess what's in fashion this Spring? Bell bottoms! Oh geez! Also, clogs are making a comeback. Do you remember those awful shoes with the gigantic wooden soles? They clanked and you could hear someone coming from 3 miles away. The noisy friend was usually sporting a miniskirt, a tie-dye shirt and a poem about snowflakes, butterflies, and Vietnam but we all loved her.

Spring will officially begin March 20, 7:21 p.m. EDT.

This year's top three Spring-break destinations are: Cancun Mexico, Panama City Florida and Miami/South Beach Florida.

The shift and focus on healthy living will continue while the economy continues to improve and people put more focus and scrutiny in their own local communities.

The music industry will change drastically with the Internet and communications, as less people will fall for corporate marketing and people, once again, demand access and control over their own listening pleasure.

Other than the wonderful Disney release, "African Cats," not much is going on in the movie industry.

In U.S. politics: the presidential debates will be held sometime this spring, but the exact date is not yet confirmed.

Predictions for U.S. home sales for the Spring of 2011 are "robust."

In local news "The Dogwood Arts Festival" runs from April 1 through May 6. All information on events can be found at http://www.dogwoodarts.com.

The outlook for the tourist industry is only described as: record-breaking and booming.

My own personal predictions are that the cynicism level will drop as people get bored with anger and finger-pointing and move toward a "solution-based" society. Years ago I predicted this through my darkest hours, but I'm still not wearing bell bottoms.

Have a great day!
