Yesterday I got a little "heavy" with the Rising article (This column is supposed to be light, humorous or good news. You could tell I was a little irked about something. I tend to wear my heart on my keyboard but that's another story.)

The lowest Knoxville temp was -24 F on January 21, 1985.

The most snow to fall in one day was 18.2" on November 21, 1952.

The most famous person to be born and raised in Knoxville is Jack Hanna.

During the great depression Knoxville was hit particularly hard because much of our community relied on manufacturing businesses.

There are 17 banks/financial institutions in Knoxville willing to loan over $1 million. Of the 17 First Tennessee has the largest average loan size of almost $7 million. This doesn't mean they have the most loaned out. By far the "most owed bank" is Home Federal.
